The healthy entertainment

The entertainment is one of the most important thing in our lives. Someone find it in sports, another reading a book or watching a movie, there are many ways to have a good leisure time. This time I´ll focus in TV series and comics and how it changes some behavior in me or teach me something new.

Starting for the survivor instinct, “The Walking Dead” is a TV series that show us a post-apocalyptic world infested with zombies. The history is about Rick Grimes and his group that must fight and solve different kinds of problems that a post-apocalyptic USA can give you. It is my favorite TV series because it teaches me what I must do in case of a zombie apocalypses.

I consider that I´m a real fan of this serie, due to the time that I have watching it throughout the time (about 8 years). Likely it is the only serie that I have seen completely because actually I don’t have time to see another serie or TV program that catch me in the same way as TWD.

This TV series begun with the aim of giving “life” to TWD comic. About the comics, it was the entrance to the world of “reading” and the healthy entertainment. I start reading comics at the age of 8 with X-men comics that friend lend me because in that time I was sick and laid in my bed doing absolutely nothing.

In the same line of entertainment, we found the cartoons. An important piece of instant happiness in my life, at least between 4 and 14 years old. They gave me hours of fun and laughs.

My family usually watch series like CSI, Dr. House, NCIS and all of these kinds of series that make you think you are the smartest person in the country because you guess to the murder or the pathology  

With my friends is very common talk about anime, cartoon or movies based on it. As we have viewed the same cartoons or anime, usually we discuss of that for hours and suppose things that could have occurred.

Dogs: The best friend

In the whole animal world, there are one that is called "the best friend of the man" and its title comes from the first of them that went along with the being human in ages BC. "It's the Dog", my favorite pet. Although it didn´t was a pet since the beginning of the humans, years has been ordered of that, creating the best couple of the universe.

My dog is called “Dora”, like “Dora, The Explorer” but it responds to my calls faster than the “Explorer”. We get it in 2013 because a family that had two dogs, one day more paws get in their house, but it family didn´t had the money to care all the new members so they gave some puppies. Since that day my life changed a lot because I found a partner who can play with me anytime, someone who could hear me without tell me that I´m wrong or crazy.

In summer, we get out to the park and play with its ball and toys (its favorite is rubber duck) and run a little together. In Winter, we play the same games but within the house. I love it because it doesn´t need nothing but love

English in my life

Well, topic is about my English experience and about some changes that I could propose to this course.

I started my English experience on English 3^rd because when I started the university I did a test to see my level and that was the result… I was really happy because I could finish in one year something that is for 2 years and that is a really great option that gave the university to the students because, for example if you stayed in the 4^th level with the test, you could decide if you want to start in level 1,2,3 or 4 and also It’s is so great because If you have like a medium English is a little boring and a waste of time do the basic course…Obviously, that is my vision.

Talking about the class there were so dynamic and entertaining the both semesters and I have learned a lot of how to react or how to developed in some regular situations, like giving directions, an advice, an opinion of everything and I have win a lot of personality, talking about talk in English.

About the “blog experience” I found this a really innovative way to practice your writing English and I have never thought that I could write more than a paragraph of anything and that is awesome because now I could write, read and understand a lot of new things. But I know that I can be better in those aspects and especially in the “spoken English” so I propose to myself take other course of English in this faculty, like the scientific and read books with that language too.

To finish, I have to say that the English is not just in the class I also use this language knowledge when I see movies without subtitles and when I listen to music, I try to write the lyrics in English and then I translate them.

Little changes

Hi everyone! I’m going to write about some changes that I would like to do in my study program…

Well, as we know almost the 100% of the careers have unnecessary subjects and I say “unnecessary” because the most of them don’t have something related with the work that you would like to do in the future or maybe could exist the possibility that the subject could be necessary for understand others things that you definitely will use in your future job but it doesn’t include all the massive matters that you should learn in the subject, just is a little part of it (that could be called like “junk content”). Based in my study program and in my first year of university I consider Calculus, Mechanic and their derivatives subjects in the category called “unnecessary” and If I could change them for another subject related with things that we will used in the future I would do it.

Talking about the study program in a general vision I would like to change the subjects with pre-requisites reducing the pre-requisites to just one or zero, because there are some subjects that need like 2 or 3 approve subject to take it then and if you don’t pass just one of them you couldn’t take that subject the next semester and in consequence you are delaying the end of the career… That is horrible; because the workload of the career is very heavy and sometimes to save one subject you have to leave another and that hinders pass all the matters.

Postgrade Studies

Hi! as you know I’m studying chemistry and pharmacy and as I wrote in the last post, I would like work in hospitals, specifically in the area of Drug surveillance… I mentioned this because the topic of this week is about a postgraduate course that I would consider taking in the future and obviously it’s related with that area.

First I have to say that I didn’t know the postgraduate courses almost now and there are a lot to choose, but the one that convince me and the one that I would like to take in the future is the “Clinical Pharmacy course”, because it’s completely related with the area that I mentioned on the beginning and with that course I will be more prepared to developed as a good Clinical pharmacist in the hospital, doing my job with more confidence and also the most importance reason is that I could help more people with my knowledge.

In that course I would like have subjects where I could learn how to analyze theoretical clinical cases and how make health projects oriented to the prevention, detection and resolution of problems related to the pharmacotherapy.

Talking about where I would like to take this course I have to say that I would like to keep studying in Chile and in this faculty too because in the future I’d like to work and do good things for the country that gave me everything.

To finish, I’d like take this course as a part time course, because the other part of my time I’d work to pay it… Unforgettable this is not free.

Great concerts

Well, in my short live I just have been in two "big" concerts. The first one was the "Trash Tour" of Metallica on November 12^thof 2013 and the second one was part of the "Taking one for the team Tour" of Simple Plan and was the last year on December 15^th.

If I have to decide between both concerts my favorite one was the last, SIMPLE PLAN.

Simple Plan is one of Canada's most successful punk-pop acts, formed on 1999.

I started to listen that band because one of my best friends recommend me the song “shut up” in 7^th grade and when I heard the song  I finished listening all their songs because they are so addictive…  In consequence I love that band since I was in 8^th and my friend and I made the promise that if they come to Chile, we will go.

The concert took place in Santiago specifically on the “Cúpula” located in O’Higgins Park and I have to admit that was the best experience of my life, first of all because I went with my friend and because the atmosphere was so incredible… everyone was screaming, jumping and singing so heavy.

An interesting country

Hi! This week I have to write about a country that I’d like to visit and the first one that comes to my mind was Bangkok the capital of Thailand. I choose this country because the last week, when I was in my house looking for something to watch I stopped in a Food channel.  The program that I saw was “Cocineros por el mundo” and its show the food in a specific country and how it’s prepared or how much do you have to pay for it and other things and how you, dear lector, can imagine that day the program was about Bangkok.

Well, thanks that, now I know that Bangkok is called “The city that never sleep” because it has a lot of nightlife for all the young people that go to the outdoors bars and thanks the amazing street food, that also is the cheapest in Thailand. So If I go there I would like taste all the food that Is typical of that country, visit the great Buddhist temples and with that know and feel their culture.

Finally I would like to  work in Bangkok but just for a couple of years because I would like to travel to another country too and because I will miss my family so much.

Sleeping At Job

You can find your perfect job only if you know the area where is impossible that anyone else can do the same activity better than you, letting you shine like the most massive star. In my case, one of my favourite activities and where my performance could be perfect is fall sleep and laying in the bed. So the job that I would like to have is “Bed Tester” which with “Drugs tester” and “Videogames tester” are the best job that the human being could think up. I imagine it like the better experience that a common person might undergo, with soft pillows and comfortable beds.

It is an indoor job because commonly this activity is executed before the device leave the plant, so for the same point it cannot allow me travel so much but who knows, maybe with the time I could become an international bed tester and test different kinds of them from worldwide allowing me travel a lot, and it is a great idea.

Searching information about how much money can get a bed tester at the end of the month I found that is enough to eat and not starve. Point to the lazy people

The major that I’m studying is not very related with the job that I dream but is one with the better employability at the first year of graduate and because of that I’m still here

One of the worst thing that I think that could happen in this job could be end up hating the beds, because even the most perfect job in the world can become hell.

The story of my friends

Persons in the picture are my friends, guys who have the same interest than me: Videogames, sports, science and junk food. I saw them most part of the time, some five days a week by the school and volleyball team, others the seven days of the week due to I worked with they too. They were very important to me, until the “University attacked” and therefore, now I don’t see them with same frequency than in the past.

This picture was took in “Laguna de Chicureo” and we were celebrating Sebastian’s Birthday in September two years ago and I still remembering that day. It was a really crazy day: We decided don’t go to the school to arrive early to his house and thus enjoy more hours. First we went to eat donuts and cakes, after that we went to eat pizza with garlic bread (No, it is not too much).

I like this picture very much because it represents the exactly moment when our friendship was the best, the funniest and strongest in the world.

Music in my life

It is a topic that I like very much. Music is an important part of my life because here I found a world where you can create everything that you want in sounds form.

I like to listening different music styles and then learn the different ways that exist to make a good song. Good songs like “Bohemian Rhapsody”, “Smooth Criminal” and “November Rain”.  This examples are some of the many songs that motivate me to make a great composition.

It was the part where I took “true music” with the idea of create some similar, but in the reality I only make bad songs. Due to my little capacity for do good music, I prefer listening or dancing it. Who doesn´t love to travel to another place with a good guitar solo from Eddie Van Halen or Kirk Hammet? Exist any person in the world who doesn´t have danced “La cumbia del marcianito”?

I don’t believe that someone can live without this beautiful art.

My favourite piece of technology

My favorite device is the same of most people of this age: the cellphone. It’s all in one! My cellphone brand is Samsung and it was a gift from one of my best friends. He decided to give me the cellphone after he saw my old cellphone; a real garbage, broken screen and very slow.

I like my cellphone because it allow me see “memes” and know what is happening in the world at real time. By the way, you can do many different activities with it: to do calls, know where you are, read web books, etc. But you can’t swim underwater or do a hydrogen bomb with it.

I have lost it only one time, in my secondary school and it was too horrible because when I lost it my friend asked me if the cellphone had worked without problems and I didn’t know what say at the moment. Nevertheless, he did that only to joke me because he had found it in the bathroom.

I think that the version of my phone isn’t an important topic, therefore it doesn’t matter.

Why did you choose this career/study programme?

When I was a child I dreamed with become in a sciences teacher, but it changed as I grew because I noticed that I don’t have patience to teach.  But it doesn’t mean that I thought in leave this area, so I began to think in what I could study. In my options appeared “medical technology”, “Chemical engineering” and “Chemistry and Pharmacy” until I decided to study the last option because I love chemistry and I really wanted to know what was the effect of drugs in the people.

Now as a university student, it has been a really interesting challenge because I have to give my 100% to understand the subjects and to have good marks in evaluations, but I like it.

When I finish my career, I would like to work in a laboratory investigating new drugs or making it.

God save the drugs.

Who Am I?

Hello, my name is Matías Vallejos, but most people know me like “Parker”. I´m 18 years old and I study chemistry and pharmacy at Universidad de Chile. Besides, Fridays and Saturdays I work as a waiter in Santa Catalina, Chicureo and I love this job because you can meet famous people.

I was born in Santiago, but I have lived in Colina since I was 9 years old. There I went to Instituto Chacabuco, where I met very interesting persons, like my old band, my old volleyball team and my best friends.

In my free time I like to play guitar and bass, and make different music styles.  I don’t have a favorite music style because I like all of them but when I was in a band we tried to play Rock (We tried)
